  Notes	Charles Fordham inherited a wardrobe with the Royal Crest on it from his Aunt Eleanor Matthews. This Aunt used to work as a housekeeper at Clarence House to the Duke of Edinburgh. She lived in a tied cottage or flat when she retired. Charles' great-nieces, Rose & Daisy dealt with their Great-Uncle's Will and they had to contact Buckingham Palace to see if they could keep the wardrobe as it was very valuable. It was eventually left to his second wife, Emily, despite her not being related to the Aunt. note: Alfred, Duke of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha (Alfred Ernest Albert; 6 August 1844 - 30 July 1900) was the third Duke of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha reigning between 1893 and 1900. He was also a member of the British Royal Family, the second son and fourth child of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha. He was created Duke of Edinburgh, Earl of Kent and Earl of Ulster in the peerage of the United Kingdom on 24 May 1866. When he became Duke of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha he surrendered his British allowance of £15,000 a year and his seats in the House of Lords and the Privy Council, but retained the £10,000 granted on his marriage in order to maintain Clarence House as his London residence. In 1866, it became the home of Queen Victoria's second son and fourth child Alfred, Duke of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha and Duke of Edinburgh until his death in 1900.
