  	Role: Witness 15 March 1910 Islington Gazette Yesterday Dr. Francis Danford Thomas held an inquest at Hornsey concerning the death of Edwin Samuel Willis, aged two months, son of a fish curer, living at 88, Campsbourne-road, Hornsey. Thomas William Willis, the father, said that the child had been ill and had been treated at the hospital. On Wednesday it was taken to bed by his wife, and it slept between her and witness. On Thursday morning, at half-past seven, he got up to prepare the breakfast. Suddenly his wife called out to him to look at the baby, and on his doing so he found that it was dead. By the Coroner-When they went to bed they were sober. He being out of work had no money to spend on drink. Mrs. Willis, the mother, gave confirmatory evidence, adding that they had four other children who were doing well. Dr. Thomas Thompson, of 2, Campsbourne-road, said he had made a post-mortem examination, and found that death was due to suffocation. The deceased had suffered from wasting. Coroner's Officer Fraser said that he had made inquiries, and found that the parents were respectable but very poor. Verdict : "Death from misadventure." The foreman of the jury said the jurors would hand over their fees to the parents. The father, in answer to the Coroner, said he was unable to bury the body. The Coroner's officer said that the parish authorities would bury the body and they would take from him an undertaking to reimburse them the expense when he obtained work. The foreman of the jury handed over to the father £1, he having supplemented the jury-men's fees himself.
