    • By the time of the 1881 census Elizabeth was married to Thomas Tatlock, but the couple were living apart. She was back living with her parents and her two brothers at 10 Spa Road, Bolton. At this time Elizabeth was working as a biscuit packer.

      By the time of the 1891 census Elizabeth was living at 7 Weston Street, Bolton. The head of the household was a George Tatlow, aged 28, a labourer born in Bolton. Elizabeth was listed as his wife, but she was still married to Thomas Tatlock at this time, so probably the couple were just living together. Elizabeth also gave her name as Ellen, so possibly this was a stage name she used. Also with her were her children, Emily aged 11, Annie aged 5, Lily aged 3, and Percy aged 8 months, together with her parents George and Sarah Brockbank.

      Elizabeth was a comic singer at the music halls in Bolton, Lancashire.

      On the 19th June 1893 she was accused of stealing three table cloths, one tray cloth, one towel, about eight yards of french cloth, two and a half yards of cashmere, about four yards of alface?, and one piece of black waterproof, but no evidence was offered against her.

      Just two days later on the 21st June 1893 she was accused along with her mother of stealing seven yards of dress material and six yards of flannellette, the property of John Bond. She pleaded guilty and was sentenced to fourteen days in Strangeways Prison.
