  Notes	She had diabetes and developed gangrene in her foot in later life. Once, when she broke her leg and was being carried on a stretcher, the ambulance men dropped the stretcher. Unknown to everyone this fall broke her back, but it wasn't discovered until she died. Her daughter Daisy stated that Eleanor was housekeeper to Earl Mountbatten's wife during the time her husband, George Alfred Downs, served under him.
